Too much dust in my room!

I was always wondering why i was sneezing and coughing like hell - excuse my french. I did not know what was the reason before i went to a doctor. Fortunatly, i have good health care so it did not se me back much or let's say: It was affordable (kinda). He ordered me to take an allergy test and it was positive for dust! Yes, you heard right, regular dust! Apparantly, it contains the excrements of small animals who live everywhere - on our bed sheets, pillows etc - you name it! As if this wasn't disgusting enough, we continously inhale their feces and this makes us sick! Tons of people have asthmatic symptoms and this makes it hard for them to breathe. It really is something one should avoid. But is it even possible to avoid it? I was told to get rid of my carpets and rugs. Which sucks because they are really beautiful. They are almost all hand woven with navajo patterns - simply amazing. I like a slight ethno touch in my living room!

I was about to abandom them all, until i overheard someone at the doctors office, asking about special anti allergic bedsheets and the doctor was like "welll....you can try". What? Wyou can TRY? Why would someone want to spend hundreds of $$$ if that wouldn't even give a bit of relief? Apparantly, it is really hard to fight this kind of allergy because, like I said - dust is everywhere! You can only take anti-allergy medicine and hope for the best. But the one i'm taking makes me feel really tired and even a bit dizzy. So it's a lose-lose situation for me. Fortunatly, i'm not allergic to cat hair. Many people are and they can't really visit me. But that's what coffeeshops are for. I love to hang out with my few friends and discuss life. It give me a bit relief from the pains of everyday life and really makes my day usually. But i'm propably very easy to please.

Hello everybody!

I'm back! It's pretty cold outside, so i thought i'd take the opportunity to sit next to my fireplace and write this article. Lol, just kidding, i don't actually have a fireplace, but at least i got my trusty laptop and i'm ready to rock and roll. Today i wanna talk about hygiene. Sure, most of us are clean. We wash ourselves daily, sometimes several times a day. But what about our pets? My cats for instance, are constantly licking themselves. Their saliva contains some kind of enzyme which helps break down bacteria and all kinds of nasties. They are basically self-cleaning organism. This is just so cool! You don't really have to give them a bath, only if they are old and can't clean themselves. I had that happen to a cat of mine once, it was horrible! Anyways, they just hate water. It destroys the coating of their fur and they pretty much dislike that. You can't blame them, it's just one of these things which are special to cats. So, well...this is the reason why felines smell rather nice. If you have not tried smelling a cat, i suggest to do it now. It isn't disgusting at all! 

Poop is so nasty :(

The only nasty thing about cats is their poop. I understand parents of toddler age children who complain about finding feces in their kids sandbox. No, kitty, this is not a big litter box! It's for children to play in. Of course, they don't know the difference and you propably can't tell them :/

But what can you do? You can offer your pet a good litter box in your home. I know that some cats dislike litter boxes and won't use them even if you are enticing them with their favourite treats. Some things you simply can't do on command. Still, many cats eagerly accept litterboxes. The question remains: Which one should I get? Which Litter is right? Personally, i like things eco friendly, but it can get very costly. Also, some litter is rather hard to dispose of. Clay litter is very scoopable, thats what i love about it. I guess it would be perfect to get one of these automatic litter boxes, which are self cleaning, but they can be kinda expensive. Some people on the Internet advocate premium boxes such as the litter robot. But i don't know if i would be willing to spend so much money just to save me a bit of hassle. At least i got two healthy hands and i'm able to scoop up some poop every once in a while. I can understand if pregnant women are using such a device, because they should not come into contact with cat feces because there is some kind of parasite (?) in it which can hurt their unborn child!!! 

I wish my cats could do that, lol!!

In conclusion

... i want to say, that cats are much cleaner animals than dogs. My Randy really smells sometimes and i have to wash my hands everytime i touch him. I tried giving him less meat but that only changed the smell of his farts for the better. Well, you see, i'm getting into „gross-territory“ once again and I guess this means that it is time to leave you for now. He went ot college - Lola moved in!

Well, back to lighter matters! If you have ever had a child, you know how similiar it is to having a pet. This seems absurd to many, but it is true – in a way. You have power over them, but still love them so much, you won't hurt them. It is your duty to care about them, to make sure they are feeling alright. It is also your job to ensure that they are living a SAFE life, and you always worry if they are away for too long. This is really true when it comes to my two cats. One of them, Josie, is rather quiet, and kind of an indoor cat. But the other one, pedro is really full of energy and loves to hunt all day long. Sometimes, he stays overnight in one of his hideouts and i worry sick about the little bugger!

But there comes the time you just have to let go of your fear. The same is true when your children leave their parents home to go to college. I recently heard about lola. Lola is a sweet amazing dog. Here is a picture of her:

But whats really special is the fact, that he is kind of the replacement for a son who moved out to study. Many parents feel very lonely if that happens and need someone else to care for. I'm not saying that a dog is „as good“ as your own child. But there are similarities and such a cutie as lola is can certainly help to cheer you up! Still, i wanna say that the sun posted this picture on the Internet and made the comparison. So it's not as worse as it sounds.

Animal Cruelty is very serious!

 Today i want to speak to you about a very serious topic, which is animal cruelty. Last summer, i visited the zoo in beijing and was terrified to see the animals in horrible conditions. I talked about this with someone from the local shelter, and she told me that this is quiet the norm in many countries. Absolutely horrible if you ask me. But there is one thing which is even more disturbing. There are people who are cruel to animals and pets right in front of our eyes. In our communities. And yes, some of them are making money off of it! Dog fighting for instance, refers to the cruel practice of letting canines fight for their lifes. Often, unscrupoolus gangster are betting on them. It is a big business. Some say it's a sport. To me it is just insane cruelty and it pains me, that these men and women are living in our communities. Often hiding their secret lifes. What does that tell me about these people? Well, they mus be really lonely, or hurt. A normal human being can't just be expected to accept this trmendous amount of pain these unfortunate animals are having to endure. But there are many more examples. 

Slaughtering Animals = Cruelty?

For instance – the slaughter of animals to produce food. Well, don't get me wrong. I think there are many reasons why one would want to eat meat. I myself am a vegetarian, trying to be vegan, but this is because i simply adore animals and see no difference between them and my pets! Why do people slaughter pigs for instance and not dogs? But are cute, both have their charms and both are perfectly capable of feeling pain. But what i want to bring to your attention is the fact, that many slaughterhouses still practice inhumane slaughtering techniques. Before their death, most animals have to live under terrible circumstances, so being freed by the deadly hands of the butcher is propably still the best way to escape the mistreatment. I once knew someone who lived near a slaughterhouse and turned vegetarian because of this. Just think about it for a minute. I don't want to force you to give up your steak or hamburger.

Do something -  if you can.... 

But cruelty against animals and pets also happens because people are poor and neglect the care of their own pets. This is especially sad, because there is not much we can do about it but try to better the economy, so these people can start to properly feed their cats and dogs again. But what do you do if you only have the option between starving your kids or your cat :( It is horrible and i don'T really want to talk about it any longer. It just upsets me too much.

Instead i want to urge you to donate !

In America it's organisations like the ASCPA who can help...

Hey, i just wanted to share a pretty funny and cute cat picture with you. This is something i plan to do much more often in the future, because cats simply rule this world. But no need to talk about it this much, here it is:

Isn't it amazing what kind of postures cats can take? I think this is a really big sign of trust, because laying on her back makes her incredibly vulnerable to attacks. This is what you get, if you really get into a DEEP relationship with your pet. It is a great reward to see that mine are trusting me as well. I would not want to give them away for any amount of cash in the world. What kind of weird postures have your cats been? I mean, i know quite a few like to roll around, but sleeping on your back is really something. Amazing snapshot and i'm happy i found it., The Internet is really amazing. Back in the days all you could do is visit the zoo or other people with pets. Nowadays, you can be part of a much bigger pet community and this is really great. Gives me faith that humanity really is coming along.

By the way, if you are a dog friend and are a bit jealous  - don't worry. Dogs will happen. That's all i'm gonna say for now. So keep faith in me and keep faith in this eart. Great things are going to be if you just believe in them :)

My First Entry - What is there to say ?

This is my first entry and i guess nettiquete dictates, that i say something about my life. But would people really be interested in what i do, how i feel and react? I sincerely doubt it. Instead, i want to let my heart speak. Because only the heart speaks the truth. This is not some fancy wisdom i got from some guru. It's also not something my mother has taught me. Instead, i experience it daily. Everytime i look my pets in the eyes, i know that i'm right where i am in my life. I have the advantage of being a little older than most of you. In the past, i've been very afraid because of me aging. But the aging process is something really natural and with it comes not only responsibility, but also a deeper sense for who you really are! As a young woman i was really afraid. I took myself so seriously! Anything and anyone could make me mad in any given moment. Over the years i have somehow learned to say „Stop!“ and simply continue with my life.

There are several things, people ..objects giving me the much needed strength in my life I was married once but my husband got rid of me so to speak. But instead of being angry, i tried to cherish his memory. Now, he has grown to be a totally different person in my heart. A nice person who still lives with me. I was very sad the time after he left me, but my dog randy and my two cats really gave me hope and got me over the worst period. Yes, they get along really well, if anyone is wondering, lol! In fact, cats and dogs are not natural enemies. We just make them out to be hating each other which isn't really true. Yes, you are right. It seldomly works out in a household. But if you are really careful introducing them to each other, it can. I'm just glad i got them ..all three of them. I think i always loved to be around pets. They seem so simple, yet have a big heart. Randy gives me so much unconditional love, it drives me insane sometimes. Because: What can i give back? Is there anything i can do for him to be more human? But maybe he does not have to be human. I know how i can take care of him and he knows how to take care of ME.

Still, i continue to learn all kinds of stuff related to my pets and i plan on sharing what i have found. I'll also keep a commentary on all sorts of articles i have found online from my favourite sites. I hope you are really going to enjoy them because i can be both – very fierce and soft. I'm just a woman who has gone through a lot and will continue to go through a lot. If that doesn't make any sense to you at all – don't worry. You will grow into it and someday you'll wonder what kind of person you really turned into. But it's going to be a pleasant surprise. I'm sure.
